Overview of AARP Home Care Medicare Insurance

AARP makes a wide range of comprehensive health insurance programs available through their association with leading health insurance companies.  AARP doesn't actually provide these Medicare health insurance plans, but they do provide free information from the top insurance companies that do provide Medicare supplemental insurance.

If you are at least 65 years of age, you can select from several different Medicare Insurance Plans. These plans include Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug and Medicare Supplement insurance plans.

Important Reminder: If you are not happy with your current Medicare coverage, you do have until March 31, 2010 to switch your Medicare Plans.

AARP MedicareComplete - These are Medicare Advantage plans that are actually provided by SecureHorizons insured by an affiliate of UnitedHealthCare, Medicare Advantage Organizations with a Medicare contract.

These are private health insurance plans that usually provide all of the Original Medicare coverage and more. The AARP associated insurance plans have no limitations for pre-existing conditions for enrollment and you do not have to have a physical exam. Depending on where you live, you will probably have several health plans to choose from.

These AARP MedicareComplete Health Plans may provide:

Predictable expenses for medical services and visits to the doctor

Medicare Part D coverage for about 1,200 prescription drugs

Medicare drug plans are accepted at over 60,000 pharmacies

To keep you healthy, preventative and wellness programs

One of the largest networks of hospitals and doctors

AARP MedicareRX Plans - These are Medicare Part D plans that are insured through UnitedHealthCare. These Part D plans provide you with the ability to help manage the expense of your prescription drugs.

According to RX Solutions Online Reporting System, members of AARP MedicareRX Plans saved over $15 billion on their prescription drugs. Even if you are not a member of AARP, but you are eligible for Medicare, these MedicareRX Plans are still available to you.

Benefits of the AARP Medicare RX Plans include:

Copays that are predictable

Two of the plans have no annual deductible

Financial help for those with lower income

A list of drugs that includes every brand name or generic prescription drug that is covered by Medicare Part D

More than 60,000 participating pharamcies nationwide

No charge for standard shipping

AARP Medicare Supplement Insurance - Plans that cover some of the expenses not covered by Medicare. These coverages are insured by UnitedHealthCare Insurance and provides coverage for eligible members of AARP.

In order to qualify, you must be at least 65 years of age. If you are under the age of 65, but are eligible for Medicare because of disability, you will need to contact the company for additional information.

AARP Medicare Supplement Plan rates will probably vary based on where you live. Also, coverage may not be available everywhere, so be sure to check the AARP HealthCare site to see if your area is covered.
